Hi Friends,
It’s somehow Fall, which honestly I think deserves some kind of class action lawsuit because my body still believes it is approximately June 3, 2020. If it is Fall of 2021 then SURELY I would have worn something other than soft pants in the past year-and-a-half and I haven’t so it isn’t.
But even though it definitely is not Fall of 2021, it is somehow still THE WEEK MY BOOK COMES OUT. Don’t ask me to do the the science; in 11th grade my chemistry teaching gave me extra credit for writing poems about chemistry.
To get sincere for a moment: I’m super excited about this book because I think having a shelter dog in the White House is a big deal. There are so many wonderful animals up for adoption and I think teaching families a little bit about how the shelter process works matters a lot. And our illustrator, Maribal Lechuga, just broke my heart with these gorgeous drawings.
You can buy the book here or here. Or, even better, find your local independent bookstore here. But don’t take my word for it. Because I found some alarmingly good boys with discerning taste in literature who are willing to vouch.
This is Tycho and he is a fancy gentleman who knows ALL his commands. Why does this matter? Because Tycho is up for adoption in NYC and the minute I met him he rolled on his back and asked for a tummy rub, so I really want him to find a good home. If you’re looking for a pal, you can find him here.
But if you want a slightly smaller friend who is adorably named Kat the dog, I got you! She’s a beagle, and while she currently has a slipped disc (aging, amiright?), the shelter is taking good care of her while she heals. (Find Kat at the same link above!)
Honestly all of this is because I find it VERY uncomfortable to promote my book, and not at all uncomfortable to talk about dogs. So now I’m just gonna share some pictures of some of the fantastic ladies and gentlemen I met in the last few days.
This is Rooney and you can find him on instagram here.
You can follow their dog walker here!
This is Chucho and you can follow him here.
And this is my mom and dad’s dog, Chase, who is a very handsome boy and is very loved.
I’m so glad to get to take a moment and say hi to all of you! My hope for this Fall(??) is that time starts to move at a regular pace; we get to spend time with our friends and family; and, of course, dog. Dogs!
Kisses! (metaphorical!)
Jill
